    TOPCOAT XS420

    Overview

    Mapaero TOPCOAT XS420 is a three-component, high-solids polyurethane aircraft topcoat designed for structural and external aerospace applications. It offers excellent chemical resistance, durability and high-gloss finish retention. XS420 is recommended for use over Mapaero SP350 chromate-free epoxy primer to provide long-term protection of metallic aircraft structures.

    Surface Preparation & Compatibility

    • Suitable for steel and aluminium substrates with approved surface treatments
    • Apply over anodised or conversion-coated substrates

    Mixing & Application

    • Mixing Ratio by Weight: Base 100 / Hardener 26 / Thinner 20
    • Mixing Ratio by Volume: Base 3 V / Hardener 1 V / Thinner 1 V
    • Store components between 18°C and 25°C for 24 hours before use
    • Mix XS420 base for 5 minutes before adding hardener and thinner
    • Preparation Temperature: 15°C to 35°C
    • Spray application requires no induction time

    Brush Application

    • Mixing Ratio by Volume: Base 3 V / Hardener 1 V
    • Activate hardener using integrated touch-up kit cap
    • Shake for approximately 1 minute before use
    • If required, stir manually until homogeneous
    • Do not reseal touch-up kit after activation
    • Pot Life: 3 hours

    • Fully Cured: 7 days at ambient or 4 hours at 100°C
    • Desolvation Time: 1 to 1.5 hours
    • Using Thinner 713-2
    • Dry to Touch: 4 hours at 23°C
    • Dry to Handle: 4.5 to 5.5 hours at 23°C
    • Dry to Tape: 6.5 to 7.5 hours at 23°C
    • Fully Cured: 3 days at ambient or 3 hours at 80°C

    • Clean equipment using Mapaero D713 cleaning thinner
    • Ensure spray equipment remains clean and contamination free
