3M?8902 tape is built to withstand the rigours of composite manufacturing. The silicone adhesive clings to difficult surfaces and remains stable under elevated temperature. The tape’s backing is thin but strong, enabling it to act as a “flash breaker”: after a bonding operation, it helps tear away resin overflow cleanly. When used to seal vacuum bags, it maintains a reliable seal under pressure and temperature, then peels away cleanly without damaging the laminate or tooling surface. This makes it highly useful in aerospace composite lay up environments.
