3M 5423 UHMW PE film tape features a translucent, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene backing that is very abrasion resistant, combined with a rubber adhesive for good initial tack. Its low-friction surface allows relative motion between components without wear, making it ideal for assemblies prone to vibration, sliding contact or noise. Aerospace engineers use it for lining structural surfaces, creating low-wear interfaces, reducing noise in panels, and protecting components where lubrication isn't feasible. Due to its excellent durability and chemical resistance, it's also suitable for use in maintenance and MRO settings where repeated movements or contact occur.
