Information
3M 5413 is a thin polyimide (Kapton®) film tape with a silicone adhesive engineered for extreme temperature stability and low adhesive transfer. Its thin profile (~0.07 mm) and excellent dielectric and thermal performance make it suitable where tight tolerances, high heat resistance and clean removal are required, for example, masking gold fingers, protecting barcodes, and temporarily securing harnesses or shims during thermal operations. It offers good tensile strength and elongation, low outgassing, and UL flame-retardant characteristics; the silicone adhesive reduces residue and eases cleaning after high-temperature exposure. Aircraft engineers commonly specify it where electronics or local high-temperature processes are involved, or where a high-temperature release tape is required in MRO/avionics work.
