    Material Engineering & Design Features

Scotch-Seal™ 800 utilizes a nitrile rubber formulation that air cures into a flexible elastomeric seal capable of resisting water, fuels, oils, and environmental exposure. The sealant maintains adhesion and flexibility even after prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures and weathering conditions.

    Typical cured performance includes:

    • Tensile Strength: 180215 psi (depending on conditioning)
    • Elongation: 7501370%
    • Moisture Vapor Transmission: 3.1 g/m/24 hr (0.035 in. film)
    • Low-temperature flexibility maintained to -55F (-48C)

The cured sealant remains flexible after accelerated weathering and prolonged outdoor exposure while continuing to provide effective environmental sealing.

    Installation & Handling

    • Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, and contaminants
    • Clean substrates using approved solvents such as isopropyl alcohol, MEK, or acetone where appropriate
    • Apply using:
      • Brush
      • Hand caulking gun
      • Pressure dispensing equipment
      • Flow gun systems
    • Surface becomes tack-free within approximately 510 minutes
    • Allow 13 days for complete curing depending on temperature and air circulation
    • Clean equipment immediately after use with approved solvents

    Environmental & Compliance Notes

    • Store in original unopened containers
    • Recommended storage temperature: 16C to 27C (60F to 80F)
    • Shelf Life: 15 months from shipment when properly stored
    • Lower storage temperatures may temporarily increase viscosity
    • Rotate inventory using first-in, first-out (FIFO) practices
    • Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before handling
    • Use appropriate ventilation and eliminate ignition sources during application
