Loctite?549 is an anaerobic retaining adhesive specially formulated to lock cylindrical parts by filling microscopic gaps between mating parts. When confined to the gap (e.g., between shaft and bore), it cures to a tough polymer, providing resistance to vibration, shock, and fluid exposure. This allows components like bearings or bushings to be bonded securely without the need for interference fit, saving weight and simplifying assembly and disassembly in MRO. As the bond is evenly distributed, stress concentrations are reduced, improving long-term reliability of critical shafted assemblies.
