Overview

Floorsil™ 2 is a one-component RTV-1 silicone sealant developed specifically for the aerospace industry for sealing non-textile aircraft floor coverings manufactured from silicone and PVC. Based on an oxime cross-linking system, it cures at room temperature to form a durable, flexible seal with outstanding resistance to chemicals, detergents, steam cleaning, UV exposure and ageing. Its high tensile strength and Shore A hardness make it particularly suitable for high-duty aircraft floor joints and acid-resistant construction applications.

Compatibility & Safety Notes

• Provides excellent primerless adhesion to Airfloor and Airflex flooring systems
• For PVC and similar materials, use Floorsil™ 1217 primer where recommended
• Clean all substrates thoroughly using methylated spirits, acetone- or isopropanol-based cleaners before application
• Avoid contact with butyl rubber, EPDM, neoprene and bituminous materials which may cause discolouration
• Allow the sealant to cure completely (24-48 hours) before exposing it to mechanical or chemical loads
• Not suitable for sewage systems, motorway or runway joints, or sealing around petrol pumps

Practical Suggestions for Your Team (AOG Mindset)

• Ensure all floor joints are completely clean and dry before applying the sealant
• Fill joints completely to eliminate trapped air and ensure a leak-proof seal
• Tool the sealant immediately before skin formation begins (approximately 10 minutes)
• Remove masking tape immediately after tooling for clean joint edges
• Maintain a minimum 50 cm distance when using steam cleaning equipment after installation
• Allow at least 24-48 hours of cure time before returning aircraft flooring to full service
