Approvals & Specifications
- Conforms to AMS-S-8802 (formerly MIL-S-8802F, Type II)
- Designed for aircraft fuel tank and pressurised cabin sealing applications
Typical Applications
- Integral aircraft fuel tank sealing
- Pressurised fuselage and cabin sealing
- Sealing joints exposed to fuels, oils, and hydraulic fluids
- Environmental and weather sealing of aircraft structures
Key Features & Benefits
- Fuel-resistant polysulfide formulation
- Strong adhesion to aerospace metals and substrates
- Flexible cured rubber resists vibration and movement
- Available in self-levelling (Class A) and non-sag (Class B) versions
- Designed to resist attack from jet fuel sulphur compounds
- Good resistance to weathering and hydraulic fluids
Application Guidelines
- Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from oil, wax, or contamination
- Mix Part A and Part B thoroughly until uniform grey colour is achieved
- Avoid high-speed mixing to prevent heat build-up and air entrapment
- Do not thin with solvents
- Apply within work-life window based on product class (0.254 hours)
Cure Information
- Cure time varies with temperature and humidity
- Standard cure conditions: 77°F (25°C) at 50% RH
- Full cure ranges from ~16 to 90 hours depending on class
- Heat acceleration possible up to 120°F with caution
Clean-Up & Removal
- Methylene chloride-based solvents used for uncured or cured material removal
- Soaking required for fully cured sealant removal
Safety Notes
- Class A contains toluene (within AMS-S-8802 limits)
- Use in well-ventilated areas (200 ppm exposure limit)
- Flammable (Class A flash point ~90°F)
- Avoid prolonged skin contact and wash thoroughly after handling
- Refer to Safety Data Sheet before use
