    Information

    RTV430 Silicone Mold Making Compound

    Overview

RTV430 is a two-component, tin-cure (condensation cure) RTV silicone rubber developed by Momentive Performance Materials for high-strength mould making and precision casting applications. Used with Beta 5 or Beta 11 catalysts, the system offers flexible curing options while delivering excellent dimensional stability, high tear strength and outstanding detail reproduction. RTV430 is particularly suited for high-temperature resin casting, oven-cured processes and moulds requiring long service life and flexibility.

    Approvals & Specifications

    • Manufactured by Momentive Performance Materials
    • Suitable for industrial mould making and high-temperature casting applications
    • No specific aerospace qualification stated within the technical data sheet

    Typical Applications

    • Precision mould making
    • Art reproduction
    • Casting high-temperature resins
    • Oven-cured composite processing
    • Flexible mould production
    • Large linear moulds requiring dimensional stability

    Compatibility & Safety Notes

    • Mix thoroughly until a completely homogeneous blend is achieved
    • Vacuum deaeration is recommended to eliminate entrapped air before casting
    • Avoid excessive mixing speeds which may introduce air or generate excess heat
    • Cures at room temperature (25°C) and approximately 50% relative humidity
    • Cure speed may vary with changes in temperature and humidity
    • Refer to the latest Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before handling and use appropriate personal protective equipment

    Packaging & Procurement

    • RTV430 Base Component
    • Beta 5 Catalyst
    • Beta 11 Catalyst
    • Supplied as a two-component silicone mould making system

Why This Product is Chosen for AOG / MRO

    • Excellent dimensional stability for producing accurate tooling and moulds
    • High tear strength extends mould service life during repeated use
    • Outstanding detail reproduction captures complex component geometry
    • Multiple catalyst options allow curing characteristics to be tailored to production requirements
    • Excellent thermal resistance supports high-temperature casting applications
    • Low viscosity improves mould filling and reduces trapped air

Practical Suggestions for Your Team (AOG Mindset)

    • Select Beta 5 where high-temperature casting or oven curing is required
    • Choose Beta 11 for larger moulds requiring increased flexibility and tensile strength
    • Use vacuum degassing after mixing to minimise air entrapment and improve mould quality
    • Mix in a container at least four to five times larger than the material volume to accommodate expansion during deaeration
    • Maintain the specified 10:1 mix ratio by weight to achieve consistent curing performance
    • Allow approximately 24 hours at room temperature before placing moulds into service
