Overview
Desothane® HS CA8800 Buffable Polyurethane Topcoat is a high-solids, low VOC polyurethane aircraft exterior coating developed by PPG Aerospace to provide exceptional gloss, durability and weather resistance. Designed for application over Desoprime™ epoxy primers and Desofill™ surfacers, the coating can be buffed after curing to remove minor imperfections while maintaining excellent image clarity and gloss retention. With outstanding impact, erosion and Skydrol® resistance, CA8800 is widely used for OEM aircraft production and MRO repainting where premium cosmetic finishes are required.

Compatibility & Safety Notes
- Designed for application over Desoprime™ epoxy primers, Desofill™ surfacers and approved intermediate coatings
- Clean surfaces using DeSoto® CN20, CN44 or Desoclean™ 110 solvent cleaners before application
- Condition all components between 13°C and 35°C for at least 24 hours before mixing
- Ground both the aircraft and spray equipment before application to minimise static discharge
- Clean spray equipment immediately after use using DeSoto® CN20, CN44 or Desoclean™ 45 solvent cleaners
- Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use and avoid overexposure

Practical Suggestions for Your Team (AOG Mindset)
- Select the appropriate CA8800CT thinner according to ambient temperature and repair size
- Maintain the specified 2:1:1 mix ratio and keep the coating agitated during spraying
- Apply two or three medium coats with approximately 50% overlap to achieve the recommended film thickness
- Allow the first coat to tack before applying subsequent coats to minimise sagging and orange peel
- Use accelerated curing (30 minutes flash-off followed by 60 minutes at 49°C) where approved to reduce turnaround time
- Buff only after the coating has fully cured to achieve the highest cosmetic finish quality
