    Overview

    Desothane® HS CA8000 is a high-solids, low VOC polyurethane topcoat developed by PPG Aerospace to provide long-lasting protection and decorative finishes for aircraft exterior surfaces. Designed for application over Desoprime™ epoxy primers, it offers excellent gloss retention, colour stability, fluid resistance and durability across demanding aerospace environments. The coating performs over a service temperature range of -54°C to +177°C and can be applied under a wide range of environmental conditions.

    Practical Suggestions for Your Team (AOG Mindset)

    • Maintain the specified 2:1:1 mix ratio and do not modify viscosity outside approved recommendations
    • Apply 2-3 coats to achieve the recommended 50-75 micron dry film thickness
    • Select the correct CA8000C reducer according to ambient temperature and desired working time
    • Allow approximately 30 minutes flash-off after the final coat before force drying
    • For aircraft repainting, allow a minimum of 48 hours before returning the aircraft to flight service
    • Clean spray equipment immediately after use with DeSoto® CN20, CN44 or Desoclean™ 45 solvent cleaners
