Overview

Aviox® SGL Aluminium is a three-component, high-solids, low VOC polyurethane aluminium topcoat developed by AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings for aircraft exterior applications. Designed to provide a durable semi-gloss aluminium finish, the coating offers excellent resistance to aircraft hydraulic fluids and aerospace chemicals while delivering the productivity benefits of high-solids technology. Compatible with AkzoNobel 10P20-13 primer, it is suitable for OEM production and aircraft MRO refinishing requiring a high-quality metallic appearance.

Compatibility & Safety Notes

• Compatible with AkzoNobel 10P20-13 epoxy primer
• Apply over clean primer while observing primer recoat times
• Recondition aged primer using very fine Scotch-Brite® or equivalent non-woven aluminium oxide abrasive
• Remove all oil, grease, dust and contaminants before application
• Store unopened material in a dry location between 5°C and 25°C
• Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and comply with all local safety, transport and disposal regulations

Practical Suggestions for Your Team (AOG Mindset)

• Allow all components to reach room temperature before mixing
• Thoroughly disperse aluminium pigment before adding the hardener
• Mix the base and hardener for at least two minutes before adding the activator
• Apply one closed wet coat followed by a cross coat after approximately 30 minutes flash-off, with an optional mist coat for optimum appearance
• Select Activator 99321 for longer working time or Activator 99330 for smaller repairs requiring faster turnaround
• Clean spray equipment immediately after use with Solvent Cleaning C 28/15 or Solvent Cleaning 98068
