TOPCOAT A1000

Overview

TOPCOAT A1000 is a three-component flexible polyurethane aircraft topcoat designed for exterior aircraft finishing. It provides excellent chemical resistance, high UV resistance, and long-lasting decorative protection for metallic and composite aircraft structures. The product is qualified to Airbus standards and is suitable for OEM production and MRO repainting.

Surface Preparation

• Apply over approved anticorrosion primer
• Sand primer using orbital sander with grade 240-400 abrasive paper
• Blow surface clean and dry
• Final clean using lint-free cloth with isopropyl alcohol
• Ensure substrate is clean, dry and contamination-free before application

Mixing & Application

• Spray Application (Volume):
• Base: 1 V
• Hardener: 1 V
• Thinner: 0-1 V
• Store unmixed materials between 18°C and 25°C for 24 hours before use
• Mix base for 10 minutes before adding hardener
• Mix until fully homogeneous before spraying
• Application Temperature: 15°C to 35°C
• Recommended filter: 80-150 µm

Brush Application

• Base: 2 V
• Hardener A1000 BRUSH: 1 V
• Use A1000 BRUSH hardener for brush application only

Application Equipment

• Gravity compressed air spray gun
• Nozzle size: 1.2 mm to 1.8 mm
• Spray using clean, dry, oil-free compressed air
• Relative Humidity: 30% to 75%

Spray Parameters

• Spraying Viscosity at 20°C:
• CA4 Cup: 13-14 seconds
• CA2.5 Cup: 40-45 seconds
• Recommended Dry Film Thickness: 40 µm to 100 µm
• Apply one crossed coat followed by one or more wet crossed coats after 30-60 minutes flash-off
• For low-opacity colours (yellow, red, some greens and blues), apply grey A1000 base coat first

Drying & Curing

• Recoatable: 2-72 hours at 23°C
• Recoatable: 15 minutes-9 hours at 60°C
• Fully Cured: 7 days at 23°C
• Fully Cured: 12 hours at 60°C
• Allow 30-60 minutes flash-off before oven curing
• Drying data based on 70 µm dry film thickness
