Aerobase Polyurethane Top Coat
Overview
Aerobase is a low VOC, isocyanate-cured, three-component polyurethane basecoat developed by AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings for commercial aircraft exterior finishing. Designed for use within a basecoat/clearcoat system, Aerobase delivers exceptional colour uniformity, gloss retention and long-term weatherability while reducing process time through rapid drying. When combined with approved Aviox® Clearcoat UVR, the system provides a durable, high-gloss finish that meets and exceeds OEM requirements for exterior aircraft performance.

Application Guidelines
- Mix 5 parts Aerobase with 1 part Aerobase Curing Solution and 1 part Aerobase Standard Activator.
- Thoroughly stir the basecoat before adding curing solution and activator.
- No induction time is required after mixing.
- Apply a homogeneous wet coat to achieve the required dry film thickness.
- If hiding is insufficient, apply an additional wet coat after 15-45 minutes or once flash-off is complete.
- Recommended spray viscosity: 30-45 seconds (ISO Cup #4) or 15-22 seconds (Gardner Signature Zahn Cup #2).
- Clean spray equipment immediately after use with Solvent Cleaning C28/15 or Solvent Cleaning 98068.
- Allow surface to dry to tape before applying Aviox® Clearcoat UVR.

- Designed for use with Aviox® Clearcoat UVR as part of a complete coating system.
- Compatible with approved Aerodur aerospace primer systems.
- Can be applied over Aerodur Sealer 42240.
- Requires properly prepared, clean and sanded primer surfaces.
