Information
McLube® 1720L Semi-Permanent Mold Release Agent & Dry-Film Lubricant
Overview
McLube® 1720L is a semi-permanent mold release agent and dry-film lubricant developed by McGee Industries for rubber, plastic and composite manufacturing. Formulated with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), polymeric resins and proprietary binder technology, it creates a clean, dry and colourless release film that provides multiple releases per application while minimizing mold build-up. Its exceptionally low coefficient of friction also makes it an effective dry-film lubricant, anti-stick coating and assembly aid for aerospace, industrial and military applications.

Why This Product is Chosen for AOG / MRO
- Provides multiple releases from a single application, reducing maintenance downtime
- Dry, non-oily coating minimises contamination of finished components
- Low transfer characteristics reduce mold cleaning frequency
- Does not interfere with painting, bonding or other post-finishing operations
- Helps reduce molded part defects such as knit lines and lowers scrap rates
- Can also be used as a dry-film lubricant and assembly aid for aerospace maintenance operations
Practical Suggestions for Your Team (AOG Mindset)
- Mix thoroughly before application and periodically during use to maintain consistent PTFE dispersion
- Prepare molds by removing previous release coatings, rust and contamination using an approved solvent cleaner
- Apply two light coats on new or freshly cleaned molds to properly condition the surface before production
- Allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next layer
- For lubrication applications, apply one or two thin, even coats and allow drying between applications
- Use dip application for small components and keep dip baths agitated for consistent performance
