ARDROX® AV 35D Fluorescent Corrosion Inhibiting Compound
Overview
ARDROX® AV 35D is a super-penetrating, water-displacing, heavy-duty corrosion inhibiting compound (CIC) developed for aerospace corrosion protection applications. Designed to protect metallic and hybrid airframe structures, the material forms a firm, tack-free protective film while maintaining excellent penetration into inaccessible areas. Its unique fluorescent properties allow application quality and coating coverage to be verified under UV light, improving inspection accuracy and corrosion prevention effectiveness.

Material Engineering & Design Features
ARDROX® AV 35D is engineered to combine deep penetration characteristics with durable corrosion inhibition. The optimized viscosity allows the material to migrate into seams, joints, lap areas, frames, stiffeners, clips, and other difficult-to-access structural areas where corrosion often develops.
The fluorescent additive system provides a significant inspection advantage by allowing coating coverage and continuity to be verified under ultraviolet light. This feature is especially beneficial when inspecting:
- Composite structures
- Black composite surfaces
- Frames and stringers
- Structural clips
- Complex airframe geometries
- Hidden corrosion-prone areas
Typical corrosion resistance performance includes:
- Salt Spray Resistance (EN ISO 9227 on 2024-T3 Aluminum): >3000 hours
- Humidity Resistance (EN ISO 6270-1 on painted surfaces): >2000 hours
Installation & Handling
- Ensure surfaces are clean and dry before application
- Remove oils, greases, and contaminants prior to treatment
- Can be applied by:
- Spraying
- Brushing
- Dipping
- Spray application is recommended for maximum penetration and corrosion protection
- Apply using a two-coat process with a minimum 30-minute interval between coats
- Mask movable components where direct coating is not desired
- Inspect coating coverage under UV light after application
- Drying Time at Room Temperature:
- Single Film System: Approximately 120 minutes
- Duplex System: Approximately 150-180 minutes
Environmental & Compliance Notes
- Store between -20°C and 30°C
- Shelf life of 36 months under recommended storage conditions
- Fluorescent effect may diminish with prolonged daylight exposure
- Can be removed when required using:
- ARDROX® AV980
- ARDROX® 5502
- ARDROX® 5503
- Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use
- Follow applicable aerospace corrosion prevention procedures and maintenance manuals
