    Information

Amdry™ 718B Superalloy Braze Filler Metal

    Overview

Amdry™ 718B is a gas-atomized, spheroidal nickel-based braze filler metal developed for joining and repair of nickel superalloy components used in aerospace and high-temperature industrial applications. Containing boron as a melting-point suppressant and a high chromium content for enhanced corrosion and oxidation resistance, Amdry™ 718B closely matches the chemistry of Inconel® 718, making it ideal for OEM manufacturing, crack repair, restoration, and rebuild of turbine engine components. It produces high-strength, corrosion-resistant brazed joints and is frequently blended with compatible superalloy powders for dimensional restoration.

    Approvals & Specifications

    • GE B50TF203, Class A
    • Tulsa Airfoil Repair MS1089

    Typical Applications

    • Brazing of IN718, IN738, IN625 and MA754 nickel superalloys
    • Crack repair of worn or damaged aerospace components
    • Repair and restoration of turbine engine hardware
    • Joining of nickel-based superalloy assemblies
    • Restoration of dimensional wear when blended with compatible superalloy powders
    • Repair of cracks measuring 0.05-0.38 mm (0.002-0.015 in)
    • Repair of wider gaps up to approximately 1.5 mm when mixed with superalloy filler powder

    Key Features & Benefits

    • Chemistry closely matches Inconel® 718 for compatible repairs
    • High chromium content provides excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance
    • Gas atomization delivers excellent chemical homogeneity and consistent processing
    • Produces excellent joint strength for structural aerospace repairs
    • Good ductility helps accommodate service stresses
    • Suitable for OEM manufacturing and MRO repair applications
    • Can be blended with superalloy powders for crack filling and restoration work
    • Available in powder, paste, tape and preform formats

    Application Guidelines

    • Ensure substrates are clean, dry and free from oxides and organic contamination.
    • Nickel flash titanium- or aluminium-rich substrates to improve braze flow where required.
    • No flux is required.
    • Recommended atmosphere is vacuum.
    • Alternative atmosphere: Pure dry hydrogen with dew point ? -52°C (? -60°F).
    • Maintain recommended braze temperatures between 1232°C and 1274°C.
    • Use recommended joint gaps of 0.05-0.38 mm for optimum capillary flow.
    • For rebrazing, subsequent cycles should remain below the original braze temperature where possible.

    Compatibility & Limitations

    • Designed primarily for nickel-based superalloys including Inconel® 718 family materials
    • Suitable for aerospace repair and restoration processes
    • Compatible with blending using suitable superalloy powders for rebuild applications
    • Wide-gap capability is available when blended with matching superalloy filler powders
    • Braze viscosity is relatively sluggish compared with lower melting braze alloys
    • Rebrazing temperatures should be carefully evaluated as alloy chemistry changes after initial brazing

    Packaging & Procurement

    • Powder form
    • 5 lb (approximately 2.25 kg) package
    • Standard stock availability
    • Global distribution
    • Paste, tape and preforms available by special order

Why This Product is Chosen for AOG / MRO
