Information
DP8005 is a two part, methacrylate based structural plastic adhesive, mixed at 10:1 ratio. It is specifically formulated to bond low surface energy plastics (such as polypropylene, polyethylene, TPOs) without needing chemical etching, priming, or plasma treatment. The work life is short (~2.5–3 minutes), but after that the adhesive strengthens and reaches handling strength in 2–3 hours at room temperature. Full cure can take 8–24?hours depending on conditions. The bond line is controlled by 0.008″ (approx 0.20 mm) glass beads for consistency. The cured adhesive is resistant to water, humidity, and many chemicals, making it valuable for long-term durability. In aerospace, it can replace mechanical fasteners or plastic welding in bonding interior plastic components, fairing panels, or structural polymer parts, improving strength and reducing stress concentrations.
