    Information

    D-100 Non-Aqueous Wet Developer

    Overview

D-100 Non-Aqueous Wet Developer is a high-sensitivity non-aqueous developer designed for liquid penetrant inspection (LPI) and nondestructive testing (NDT) applications. Formulated to enhance the detection of tight, fine, and incipient discontinuities, it provides a uniform developer coating that draws penetrant from flaws to the inspection surface through capillary action. The product is compatible with both fluorescent and visible penetrant systems and is approved by major aerospace OEMs and industry standards organizations.

    Key Technical Characteristics

    • Product Type: Non-aqueous wet developer (NAD)
    • Appearance: White powder suspended in an organic medium
    • Application Method: Spray application only
    • Flash Point: 12°C
    • Operating Temperature Range: +10°C to +50°C
    • Granulometry:
      • X10: 1.8 ?m
      • X90: 14 ?m
      • X99: 24 ?m
    • Halogen Content: Very low
    • Sulfur Content: Very low

    Core Performance Benefits

    • Enhances visibility of fine and tight discontinuities
    • Provides high-sensitivity flaw detection performance
    • Compatible with both fluorescent and visible penetrant systems
    • Rapid drying supports efficient inspection processes
    • Uniform developer coating improves inspection reliability
    • Low halogen and sulfur content minimizes material compatibility concerns
    • Easy removal after inspection

    Typical Applications

    • Aerospace component inspection
    • Aircraft maintenance and overhaul programs
    • Manufacturing quality control
    • Precision weld inspection
    • Power generation equipment inspection
    • Industrial nondestructive testing (NDT)
    • Penetrant testing of metallic and ceramic components
    • Detection of fine surface-breaking discontinuities

    Material Engineering & Design Features

D-100 is engineered to create a controlled developer layer that draws penetrant trapped within surface discontinuities back to the inspection surface. The capillary action of the developer enhances indication visibility, allowing inspectors to identify fine flaws that may otherwise be difficult to detect.

    The formulation is compatible with:

    • All metals
    • Ceramics
    • Certain synthetic materials
    • Fluorescent penetrant systems
    • Visible dye penetrant systems

The product is approved and recognized by major aerospace and industrial organizations including:

    • AIRBUS
    • AIRBUS HELICOPTERS
    • ASME
    • ISO 3452-2
    • PRATT & WHITNEY
    • QPD-AMS 2644
    • ROLLS-ROYCE
    • SAFRAN
    • RCC-M
    • EDF PMUC

    Installation & Handling

    • Shake thoroughly before use to fully resuspend developer particles
    • Apply only by spray application
    • Inspect parts only after excess penetrant has been removed and surfaces are completely dry
    • Apply a light, slightly wet and uniform coating
    • Two or three light coats are preferred over one heavy application
    • Avoid excessive developer build-up which may mask indications
    • Allow at least 5 minutes before final inspection interpretation
    • For extremely fine discontinuities, inspection times greater than 30 minutes may be beneficial
    • Can be removed using water or a clean cloth after inspection

    Environmental & Compliance Notes

    • Low halogen and sulfur formulation
    • Store away from moisture
    • Recommended storage temperature: 0°C to 50°C
    • Keep packaging tightly closed after use
    • Refer to applicable Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) before handling
    • Designed for professional NDT and aerospace inspection applications

    Key Advantages

    • High sensitivity for detecting fine and incipient flaws
    • Compatible with a broad range of penetrant systems
    • Approved by major aerospace OEMs and industry organizations
    • Rapid drying improves inspection efficiency
    • Excellent compatibility with metals and ceramics
    • Easy post-inspection cleanup
    • Supports critical aerospace and industrial quality assurance programs
