SkyScraper Sharpening Devices for Efficient Sealant Removal
Operators can maintain a sharp cutting edge throughout their shift using two dedicated SOCOMORE SkyScraper sharpening devices. These solutions help extend tool life, improve sealant removal efficiency, and reduce the need for disposable scrapers.
- SkyEdgit: A handheld manual sharpening device that allows operators to restore the scraper edge directly at their workstation. The operator inserts and manually rotates the scraper to maintain sharpness. Typically, a SkyScraper can be sharpened 4 to 5 times using the SkyEdgit before requiring a mechanical sharpening cycle.
- SkyMill Revolution: A portable, battery-operated mechanical sharpening workstation featuring an electronic grinding stone mechanism. Designed for repeated use, it can resharpen a fluted SkyScraper up to 20 times. One fully charged unit provides a minimum of 12 hours of operation and can support between 5 and 8 operators.
Note: Both the SOCOMORE SkyEdgit and SkyMill Revolution feature integrated dust receptacles to collect debris generated during the sharpening process. This helps reduce Foreign Object Debris (FOD) risks, while collected dust and scraper stubs are non-toxic and require no special disposal methods.

SOCOMORE SkyRestore 406 and 407 are NMP-free cured sealant removers designed as alternatives to restricted chemicals under REACH regulations. They quickly soften fully cured polysulphide, polythioether, and RTV silicone sealants across aircraft structures, joints, and fuel systems.
- Non-flammable formulation with zero fire risk.
