PPG Desothane® HS CA8000 is a high-solids, low-VOC polyurethane topcoat developed for the protection and decoration of aircraft exterior surfaces. Designed for application over Desoprime™ epoxy primers, the coating delivers outstanding gloss retention, color stability, fluid resistance, and long-term weatherability. It is qualified to numerous major aerospace OEM specifications and provides durable protection across a wide service temperature range, making it suitable for both OEM manufacturing and aircraft refinishing operations.

The coating is compatible with approved epoxy primer systems including Desoprime™ epoxy primers and other aerospace primer specifications.
Installation & Handling
- Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from contamination before application
- Recommended surface cleaners include DeSoto® CN20 and Desoclean™ 45
- Condition all components to 15-30°C for at least 24 hours before mixing
- Mix thoroughly using the specified 2:1:1 volume ratio
- No induction time is required
- Recommended application conditions:
- Temperature: 15-35°C
- Relative Humidity: 20-90%
- Apply 2-3 coats to achieve a final dry film thickness of 50-75 ?m
- Compatible with conventional, HVLP, electrostatic air spray, and electrostatic air-assisted airless spray equipment
- Flash-off time after the final coat: 30 minutes before force drying
- Minimum recommended period before aircraft return to flight after repainting: 48 hours
