Information
Ardrox 185L is a water-miscible, strongly alkaline cleaner containing sequestrants, formulated by Chemetall for aerospace derusting operations. It dissolves rust and scale effectively at 82–93?°C (180–200?°F) in immersion tanks, with times varying based on contamination level. Importantly, it does not hydrogen embrittle high-strength steel, meaning it's safer for critical ferrous parts than acid pickling. Approvals include major OEMs (e.g., CFMI CFM56, Rolls-Royce, GE, Pratt & Whitney) for use on engine and structural parts. After treatment, parts must be thoroughly rinsed, and a protective fluid (e.g., Ardrox series) is often used to prevent rerusting.
