    Information

    P/S 870 Class B Corrosion Inhibitive Sealant

P/S 870 Class B is a corrosion inhibitive aircraft sealant with a service temperature range of -65°F (-54°C) to 250°F (121°C), with intermittent resistance up to 275°F (135°C). It acts as an effective barrier against common corrosion mechanisms on aluminum alloys and dissimilar metals. Once cured, the material maintains elastomeric properties after limited exposure to jet fuel and aviation gasoline.

This product is a two-part, manganese dioxide–cured polysulfide compound. The uncured sealant is a low-sag, thixotropic paste that can be applied by extrusion gun or spatula. It cures at room temperature to form a resilient, durable seal with excellent adhesion to typical aircraft substrates. All tests referenced meet MIL-PRF-81733 Type II standards.

    Surface Preparation

Before applying P/S 870 Class B to primed substrates, clean surfaces thoroughly using approved solvents and lint-free AMS 3819 cloths. Remove contaminants such as oil, dirt, and lubricants. Avoid using reclaimed solvents or tissue paper. Always wet the cloth with solvent rather than dipping it to prevent contamination. Wipe one small area at a time and dry before evaporation to prevent contaminant redeposition.

Because substrates vary, adhesion testing is recommended prior to full-scale application. For more detailed procedures, refer to SAE AIR 4069.

    Packing Options

    P/S 870 Class B is available in:

    • Two-part kits
    • Semco® cartridges
    • Pre-mixed and frozen cartridges

    Mixing Instructions

Mix Part A and Part B separately to ensure uniformity. Combine the full contents of both parts and mix thoroughly, ensuring no unmixed material remains on container walls or bottom. Follow the specified weight ratio precisely.

    Storage Life
