    Information

    Description

P/S 870 Class C is a corrosion inhibitive, two-part manganese dioxide–cured polysulfide sealant designed for fuselage and roller/faying surface sealing applications. It maintains excellent elastomeric properties over a temperature range of -65°F (-54°C) to 250°F (121°C), with intermittent excursions up to 275°F (135°C). This material provides a reliable barrier against corrosion on aluminum alloys and between dissimilar metals.

    Benefits

    • Corrosion inhibitive for critical aircraft components
    • Excellent adhesion to common aircraft substrates
    • Resilient elastomeric properties even after limited fuel exposure
    • Low-sag paste designed for roller and faying surface sealing
    • Durable performance across wide temperature ranges
    • Repairable to fresh and aged sealant

    Technical Data

    • Color (mixed): Gray
    • Mix ratio (A:B by weight): 17:100
    • Base viscosity: 2,500 poise (Brookfield #6 @ 2 rpm)
    • Cure time (hours/days): B-12 = 14 days, B-24 = 21 days, B-48 = 56 days
    • Cured specific gravity: 1.50
    • Nonvolatile content: 90%
    • Ultimate hardness: 50 Shore A
    • Tensile strength: 250 psi (standard cure, 14 days)
    • Elongation: 250%
    • Low temperature flexibility: No cracking at -65°F (-54°C)
    • Hydrocarbon resistance: Excellent after 7 days @ 140°F (60°C)
    • Weight loss: 7%
    • Salt spray resistance: 670 hrs. ASTM B117, no corrosion or sealant deterioration
    • Lap shear strength (100% cohesion): 232–250 psi depending on substrate and conditions

    Application

    • Fuslage sealing and roller/faying surface applications
    • Aircraft maintenance and OEM assembly use
    • Works on anodized aluminum, titanium, and other aerospace substrates

    Surface Preparation

Clean surfaces thoroughly with approved solvents and lint-free cloths. Remove all dirt, grease, or processing lubricants. Dry surfaces completely before application to prevent contamination.

    Mixing Instructions

Mix Part A and Part B separately to uniformity, then combine per specified ratio. Thoroughly blend to avoid unmixed areas, and apply using a spatula or extrusion gun.

    Packing Options

Supplied in two-part kits and Semco® cartridges.

    Storage Life

Minimum 6 months when stored below 80°F (27°C) in original, unopened containers.

    Notes

    • Adhesion may vary depending on substrate composition; testing is recommended.
    • Results may vary slightly due to environmental or processing conditions.
    • For industrial use only; follow MSDS safety precautions.
